German speaking l10n teams need the new short 'de' locale in BugZilla

Details
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; de-DE; rv:1.7.10) Gecko/20050717 Firefox/1.0.6 Build Identifier: In BugZilla is only the de-AT locale existing for German translations. German speaking translators decided to use the new short 'de' locale for all CVS localized builds. So we should have the 'de' locale in BugZilla. BTW: how is it possible to be informed, if (and which) new l10n related bugs are commited to BugZilla? Reproducible: Always

you can be informed by putting the default assignee on your watch-list. We have to decide on that for the "de" component, I would prefer something like "de@localization.bugs"
Assignee: registration → asa
Status: UNCONFIRMED → NEW
Component: Registration & Management → Bugzilla: Keywords & Components
Ever confirmed: true
Product: Mozilla Localizations → mozilla.org
QA Contact: registration → timeless
Version: unspecified → other

I don't agree we need a new component, and we once agreed we only want one single component per language. I'm very much for renaming the existing component to de only though, and use a default assignee like described here. It would break some of my queries but nothing too bad...

Yes, one component sounds reasonable since many translation bugs filed for e. g. Firefox will be valid for Thunderbird and vice versa. I just talked with Alex, he is fine with that. So, let's change the name to "de/German", choose a new default assignee, and grant Alexander "editbugs". Pike, can you do that?

We have to force bug reporters to tell us which app they use because of not having separate components. We need to know if de-AT or de/CVS is meant by bug reporters, to choose the correct assignee.

As people have to give their version number anyway, there's not a big deal about giving the product. Anyway, having just one locale component is going to be less confusing than two. (I changed alex' bug privs already, too.)

marcia is now the default assignee for Bugzilla: Keywords & Components.
Assignee: asa → marcia

Can we pick this up again? The lack of an alias for the different owners for the different products make filing bugs on the German locales a game that requires hidden knowledge. Component name should be de / German localizations (Deutsche Γbersetzungen) default assignee should be nobody, as the default really depends on which product the bug is about, and needs to be set after triage. QA contact should be german.de@localization.bugs.

Yes, this sounds good to me. We (esp. Alex, Abdulkadir and me) should just watch that QA contact and reassign the bugs for the respective apps to ourselves...

Umm, what is still needed here so that it can be fixed? Would be nice to see this finally happening...

Ohhh, okay maybe I should sleep some more hours before posting a comment... Timeless ist the QA for THIS bug. But I'm still not sure, what is the default QA contact now? mozilla@mista.at?

Alex: As shown on https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/describecomponents.cgi?product=Mozilla%20Localizations - the default QA is now german.de@localization.bugs - and this is the address we all should watch so we see when new bugs are filed.
