When you hold shift and middle click on a bookmark, it inverses the focus of the
tabs based on the options set.

However, when you hold shift while middle clicking on a bookmark group, nothing
happens, no tabs are opened

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Have a bookmarks group/folder
2.Hold shift while middle clicking

Actual Results:
Nothing happens, no tabs are opened

Expected Results:
The tabs in the bookmarks group/folder should be opened and have different focus
than that especified in the options
You can't "focus" a group of tabs, so I'm not sure I understand your expected
results...

lets say u have "browser.tabs.loadFolderAndReplace" set to true and
"browser.tabs.loadBookmarksInBackground" set to false

the first bookmark of the group will have focus

likewise, if loadBookmarksInBackground is set to true, the first bookmark will
will not have focus

holding shift key should open the bookmarks group and inverse the focus of the
first tab based on the option
The not-doing-anything part of this bug has been fixed in bug 175124 for Firefox 3.0. -> WORKSFORME

And the doing-the-correct-thing part would be bug 400491.
