1.  Click on Check for Updates
2.  Click on Download
3.  Click on the x in the corner rather than restart now (maybe later would work
as well?)
4.  Click on a web link in thunderbird
5.  The bowser opens, the status bar is abnormally large, the browser is locked
up.  I have to kill it from the command line.
6.  Start the browser again. Then update finishes and browser starts like normal.

I just updated to

Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8b4) Gecko/20050912 (No IDN)
Firefox/1.4
christopher, works for me in Firefox 2.0.04, Trunk and 1.5x

Do you still see this problem a recent release like Firefox 2.0.0.4
