Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.10) Gecko/20050716 Firefox/1.0.6 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.10) Gecko/20050716 Firefox/1.0.6 When a Live Bookmark is created and placed in the Bookmarks Toolbar, Firefox displays the orange "Live Bookmark" icon in the toolbar instead of the favicon/custom icon associated with the link (as specified in the ICON attribute). This requires the user to use text to distinguish Live Bookmarks from one another. To get the most mileage out of the Bookmarks Toolbar, I often delete all text from the "Name:" field of a bookmark's properties so that the bookmark takes up only the minimum amount of space and is identified by its icon (this makes it more closely resemble the "quick launch" application toolbar on the desktop). Live Bookmarks should also use the favicon associated with the site they point to, just like regular bookmarks do. Ideally, the little black arrow would also be removed. :) Note: Behavior is slightly different for Windows vs. Linux.... On Linux, all Live Bookmarks are displayed in the sidebar with the favicon instead of the generic "folder" icon. For those Live Bookmarks in the Bookmarks Toolbar (ie. "Personal Toolbar Folder"), Live Bookmarks are displayed with their favicon in the sidebar only. The toolbar itself displays Live Bookmarks with the orange "Live Bookmark" icon. On Windows, all Live Bookmarks are displayed as regular folders in the sidebar, but the orange "Live Bookmark" icon is used in the toolbar. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Browse to a site offering an RSS feed (eg. http://www.theregister.co.uk/) 2. Click the orange "Live Bookmark" icon in the lower right corner of Firefox and select "Subscribe to RSS feed". 3. When the "Add Bookmark" dialog appears, select "Bookmarks Tookbar Folder" (Linux: "Personal Toolbar Folder") from the "Create in:" drop-down list, then click OK. Actual Results: The new Live Bookmark will be created on the Toolbar with the orange "Live Bookmark" icon. Expected Results: Firefox should display the Live Bookmark in the Toolbar (and ideally in the sidebar as well) with the favicon associated with the site. In the case of Linux, the favicon is actually included in the ICON attribute of the Live Bookmark link, but it is ignored when displaying the bookmark on the toolbar. In the case of Windows, the ICON attribute is not present at all for Live Bookmarks, although manually editing bookmarks.html file and inserting the missing ICON attribute (while Firefox is shutdown, of course) does not change the behavior. On Linux, I was using the default theme & profile with no extensions installed (everything right out of the box). On Windows, I have lots of extensions installed (but no themes) and I did not try to reproduce this in any other environment.
