RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 251868

People

(Reporter: reny.melo, Assigned: mscott)

Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0; .NET CLR 1.1.4322)
Build Identifier: version 1.0.5 (20050711)

Clients cannot send large email attachments. They have to use OE or Netscape
to send large attachments. The smtp server setting has an "unlimited size" to
send. Mozilla comes back with an error message saying the attachment exceeds
the 51xxxxxxx size.

Again...I and others have to use another product to send large attachments.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Attach a video clip of 911 or event the TBsetup file
2. send message
3.

Actual Results:
Here is the exact message:

"The size of the message you are trying to send exceeds the global size limit
(512000 bytes) of the server. The message was not sent, try to reduce the
message size and try again."

Expected Results:
Sent the message like the other mail clients.

Because of this issue, I know some people, my customers who will want to move
back to Netscape. Now that I'm on TB because of them, I'd rather not switch
them back.
A similar report is bug 251868. Which mail server are you using?
By the way, and SMTP log would be a good idea:

http://www.mozilla.org/quality/mailnews/mail-troubleshoot.html#smtp
New Comment: The smtp is Mail Enable. After reading the message with the
similar problem, I requested my ISP to make the change on their server from zero
 (0) to an actual number. Appearantly, TB doesn't like zero(0).

Well, they disagreed with me. They won't change it. So, now I'm stuck. My
choices are 1 of 2.

1) Respectfully request everyone here to resolve this issue and send me an
update.

2) Move to OE or Netscape...which I don't want.

How would I know if anything is going to be done about this?

Thank you.
Same mail server as bug 251868. So it could be a common issue. I will dupe to
the older bug, and ask there for any more info.

Reny, if anything happens on this you will get e-mailed as you will go on the CC
list for other bug.
