User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8b4) Gecko/20050908 Firefox/1.4 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8b4) Gecko/20050908 Firefox/1.4 When I open the Extensions Manager from the Tools Menu in Firefox 1.5 Beta1, I get an entry for User Agent Switcher that says: "A new version of User Agent Switcher (0.6.7) is available." When I click on the "Update Now" button next to it, nothing appears to happen. However, if, minutes later, I attempt to close firefox, a window pops up that asks me if I want to cancel n downloads in progress, where n is the number of times I clicked on the "Update Now" button. I have a very fast broadband connection, and have clicked on the "Update Now" button as few as 1 time before closing Firefox, so I'm sure the problem is now slow downloads. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Open Firefox 2.Select "Extensions" from the Tools menu. 3.When window opens, click on the "Update Now" button for User Agent Switcher 0.6.6 (to update to 0.6.7). 4.Several minutes later, close Firefox. Actual Results: See Details. That's exactly what happened, each of four times. Expected Results: It should have downloaded the user Agent Switcher almost instantly, and told me to restart Firefox to complete the installation of the new version of User Agent Switcher. Please provide a link to the extension so this can be tested.
Glenn - I'd prefer not to rush you but fixes of this nature are going to be more difficult to land with each passing day due to the upcoming release. Can you provide a link?

Can you > provide a link? If you mean a link to User Agent Switcher, it's http://chrispederick.com/work/firefox/useragentswitcher/ As for the bug, I can update in Firefox 1.4 on Linux without a problem. This bug occurred on Firefox 1.5 beta1, which I have installed on Windows XP Pro 2002.

If you have the time do so as well I'd appreciate it.

I tried it with the latest build, DeerPark Alpha 2, but ran into a roadblock. It appears that User Agent Switcher 0.6.7 is not compatible with the latest nightly build, nor is 0.6.6. At least, that's the feedback I got when Firefox started up. First it said 0.6.6 was incompatible, then asked we whether I wanted to try to find a newer version that was compatible. When I clicked yes, it came back with "no compatible versions found," or something to that effect. It's possible that beta1 is also not compatible, but it hangs, instead of informing me that there is no compatible version.
The extension's compatibility is set to 1.4 and using a build from yesterday this is WFM. I created a 1.0.6 profile, installed the extension, changed its maxVersion to 1.0 so it would not be compatible on upgrade, and changed the extension's version to 0.5.7 from 0.6.7 so there would be an update available when checking. I tested updating the extension during the upgrade compatibility check and also updating via the EM ui. Most likely this was fixed by one of the patches after beta 1.
Glenn, is this still a problem for you... it is WFM using the 1.5 release.
No response and this is WFM
