User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8b4) Gecko/20050908 Firefox/1.4
Build Identifier: version 1.5 Beta 1 (20050908)

The dictionary German/Austria does only contain additional words of Austrian
compared to German. This is fine in OpenOffice, but in Thunderbird this does not
work: When activating the German/Austria dictionary, the spell checker ONLY
recognizes the additional words.
In OpenOffice it uses both dictionaries, the German/Germany AND the
German/Austria and everything is fine.

SOLUTION: Edit the German/Austria dictionary to include the German/Germany
dictionary, not only the additional words.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. install the dictionary German/Austria as administrator / root
2. select the dictionary
3. compose a message containing the words "Marille Paradeiser Aprikose Tomate Test"

Actual Results:
The spell checker refuses the german words "Tomate" and "Aprikose" and the word
"Test" but accepts the Austrian variants "Marille" and "Paradeiser", Test is
Test in German also.

Expected Results:
accept all words as "Austrian".
Product: Mozilla Localizations, Component: de-AT / German-Austria?
Component: Message Compose Window → de-AT / German-Austria
Product: Thunderbird → Mozilla Localizations
This should work correctly in German duictionaries for Mozilla suite and
SeaMonkey, see the de-AT_README.txt those packages include.
The packages are available from http://www.seamonkey.at/

Thunderbird German should probably use those dictionaries as well...

--> Alex, this is a Thunderbird problem, SeaMonkey has the correct dictionary,
as I already pointed out.

We are NOT creating own dictionaries.

Probably you've been using the original OO.o dicts - as Kairo stated, they do
NOT include the german words - only the austrian.

You can use the merged dictionaries from our website:

FYI: The Thunderbird download does NOT include german dicts (licensing issues).
So all users have to download german / austrian/ swiss dictionaries from the web.
Thanx for the information. I did not use the link provided by Alex, i.e. the
link form thunderbird-mail.de but the "more intuitive way", i.e. in my ENGLISH
version of TB 1.5 B1 I did a "Tools ==> Options ==> Composition ==> Download
more Dictionaries" which took me to
http://www.mozilla.org/products/thunderbird/dictionaries.html which provided me
with the wrong dictionaries.

Perhaps one should upgrade that link to the german thunderbird site.

Schöne Grüße
Wolfgang
