I use Thunderbird heavily.
The July 12 nightly had been stable.
The Aug 11 nightly had been stable too; it hung either 0 or 1 time in a month of
use.
I just downloaded 1.5 beta 1 a couple days ago and it's already hung twice.
I use secure IMAP and SMTP with fastmail.fm/messagingengine.com (cyrus IMAP).
It hangs, so there's no crashdump.
It tends to stop responding when brought back from sleep. I'm on my iBook G4
with the latest OS updates (except the latest iTunes which is reportedly buggy),
usually using WiFi.
Aha! My mail provider just put a New frontend IMAP/POP proxy in place:
http://blog.fastmail.fm/ on the 14th. So that's as likely as the beta to be the
culprit. http://www.emailaddresses.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=38085
The last time it hung, I had just the one (Mail and Newsgroups) window open,
slept the system for 20 minutes or so, and Tbird was hung when I revived it.

I'll go back to the Jul 12 nightly for a week and see how that goes.
I'll also see how reproducible the hang in 1.5beta1 is.
The hang does not seem to be reproducible in 1.5beta1; it's been through 3 days
use and a dozen sleeps, with no crashes. So I'm closing my bug, as I don't have
anything useful for a bug squasher to use.
