Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.10) Gecko/20050716 Firefox/1.0.6
Build Identifier: Firefox/1.0.6

I have the sidebar installed. I also have an extension icon on the toolbar. It
doesn't matter if I use the side bar the icon or go in through tools, I can't
get the Extension Manager to open. The Theme Manager works fine.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Use toolbar icon
2.use options
3.use sidebar

Actual Results:
Extension sidebar opens but will not load, unlike the theme one wich is immediate.

Expected Results:
Open like the theme manager
Extension sidebar is not a Firefox feature... I suspect you installed an
extension to get this functionality. Try disabling the extension - I don't know
which one you installed - restart to finish the disable operation, and try to
open the Extension Manager from Tools - Extensions (also, Firefox doesn't come
with a button to open extensions).
To Rob Strong

Firefox does come with an icon for extensions you can add it by customising the
toolbar, I have it on my choices and to prove it I just removed it back to the
customise options.

I may have misled you It is called Sidebar and it performs a range of functions,
bookmarks,history,downloads,extensions,themes...

Attempting to access extensions via Tools/options is no more sucessful the same
problems occur. The list of installed extensions won't load the Extension
Manager just stalls. It works fine for themes.

I can't uninstall the offending extensions because the manager won't open at all.

I have even uninstalled firefox and downloaded a clean version which I put into
a new file but the problem remained.
There are extensions that provide what you describe and Firefox doesn't come
with a button to open extensions, etc. as I stated. For assistance
troubleshooting and removing extensions that are not behaving incorrectly please
ask in the forums.

Here is one of the couple of extensions that add buttons and enable the
Extension Manager to be opened in the sidebar

Please try to open in safe mode to see if the problem still persists.

this appears to be the same as bug 301081 with the twist of using an extension
to try to open the extension manager
