when Tbird first starts up, it looke like there's a clip region obscuring
the upper left corner of the window. after it gets rolling, some of the items in
the area punch through when they update, but the rest of the area never renders
unless i collapse and restore the window.

i have a screen shot which i'll attach (if i can).

Expected Results:  
should draw the window contents correctly
