User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; ja-JP; rv:1.7.11) Gecko/20050728
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; ja-JP; rv:1.7.11) Gecko/20050728
Firefox's QFA Talkback Agent has a URL/location textbox and it's label is:
If failure occorred within the browser please provide URL/location
Only the part of this label is shown on Japanese windows:
If failure occorred within the browser please provide
Japanese windows have larger default font than English one. This means that label
text needs more space on Japanese windows than on English one.
Above label is short enough to be displayed in English windows but it's too long
for Japanese windows environment.
To solve this, we should
A. make the QFA windows larger
B. use shorter label of the textbox like:
If failure occorred within the browser provide URL/location
I recommend the option B because this can be done only by changing
supportIdStatic.label in talkback-l10n.ini.
- supportIdStatic.label = "If failure occurred within the browser please
provide URL/location:"
+ supportIdStatic.label = "If failure occurred within the browser provide
URL/location:"
So, please make the label text shorter to be displayed on Japanese windows.
# Maybe chinese or some other multibyte language use larger font than english
# and same problem is occurred.
c.f.
This is occured not only when we use Japanese firefox but also when we use
English Firefox on Japanese windows. So, this is not problem of Japanese L10n.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start Firefox on Japanese windows.
2. Make Firefox Crashed.
2.1 open chrome://browser/content/ in a tab
2.2 close the tab
2.3 then firefox will crash
3. Then QFA will be invoked and label text is partly displayed.
Expected Results:
All the label text must be shown on Japanese windows too.

See the label for second text box.
On Japanese Windows, larger font is used and the label cannot be displayed in a
line. The label will be shown in two lines like:
If failure occorred within the browser please provide
URL/location
but second line in hidden under the text box and we cannot read it.
To escape this problem, we should make dialog wider or make label shorter.
- this dialog is already as big as it can be for some screens. it should not be
enlarged.
B. "Please specify the URL/Location that caused this alert:"
C. there's actually some vertical space to be had by shifting the bottom
internals of the dialog down.
D. The Email Address label could be shifted to the left of the email address
field. I don't know many people w/ 50+ character email addresses.
While we're messing with the text, "that Mozilla needs" in the header should
be "mozilla.org" or "Mozilla Foundation" or something, not "Mozilla". And
unless someone really needs "Mozilla" in the name of the Quality Feedback
Agent, it should probably be dropped.
E. The first two 'paragraphs' of static text could be combined saving both
vertical and horizontal space.
Summary: URL/location textbox's label is only partly displayed (on Japanese windows) → URL/Location textbox's label is only partly displayed (on Japanese windows)

I think we can close this bug, because we are using breakpad on Fx3.

We have not used Talkback in years and it is not longer maintained. Closing bugs.
