After some <pre>'d text in chapter I, whilst there is a </pre> tag in the HTML,
the rest of the document is in monospaced font. (The text "In many respects,
this is a typical" should be variable-witdh again)
Netscape 4.71 does not exhibit that behaviour.
I first thought that it was because of the </pre> tag being CAPITALIZED, but
that did not seem to be the case when I tried in in a test-document.

I don't see this in Linux build 2000.03.08.09. Page renders the same in Mozilla
nd NS 4.7. What build are you using? Can you try a current build?
I'm sorry for not including that. Just tried it again this morning after a fresh
restart of the computer, and it just happened to me again. Being the second page
I checked.
BuildID is 2000.02.28.20, for WinNT 4.0, SP6.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Go to the URL
2. Click Under "Contents": "I. An Example"
3. Scroll a bit down until after "----End of forwarded message"
It reproduces every time.
In the HTML source it says: </pre>, but in my window the font stays monospaced.
This is the smallest piece of HTML I got to reproduce it:
<html><body>
<a name=HI>
<pre>
THIS SHOULD BE MONOSPACED
</pre>
<p>
THIS SHOULD NOT BE MONOSPACED BUT IS
</body></html>
Something I noticed: Remove the <a name=HI> and it works as it is supposed to.

Yes, I see this working as expected. I might have been fixed since the 2/28
build. Can you try a current nightly buld, please?
Build 2000.03.05.16 works as expected, both on the URL and the test-file.
