In the bookmark manager, when I drag a bookmark or folder to a new location, it
will rearrange all the bookmarks randomly.

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open bookmark manager
2. Drag folder or bookmark to new location
3.

Actual Results:  
It did not appear at that location and other bookmarks were shifted.

Expected Results:  
It should have been moved to that location.

I fixed this by changing the mode from "Unsorted" to "Sort by name" and back to
"unsorted".  However, I thought it might be good to let the Mozilla staff know
about this.

I have the same in 1.5 RC3.
Reaaranging them leads to a chaos!!! New empty bookmarks were added during this operation and deleting them leads to rearrangement of others and undo is not working, too.
I'm not able to arrange my bookmarks, as they were before trying to sort them alphabetically!
For me this is a major bug!!!

Uh. Hard to find "unsorted" when not looking in the menu bar.

btw. "unsorted" is bad wording as it's not right.
should say: "sorted by user" or something like that.
(I'm not the best for finding an english phrase for this.)

I'd just like to comment I experienced the same behavior.  Bookmarks and separators in bookmark manager reshuffled themselves with several separators congregating together, and main bookmark folders and bookmarks within main bookmark folders changing their order.  When I tried to manually re-order the bookmarks & separators into original positions, they would be moved but into entirely new locations; I found it impossible to manually return them to original positions.  

The partial solution suggested works for now:  Bookmarks > Manage Bookmarks (or Bookmark Manager tool bar button) > View > Sorted by Name (which seemingly does nothing) > Unsorted.  Doing this returned the bookmarks & separators into their original positions.  Please fix this bug.  Btw, I loooooooove Firefox!  I can't believe this thing is free.  Thank you.

I experience the same bug under Firefox 1.5.0.1, windows XP, exactly as described above. I have bookmarks labled in Hebrew, if that makes any difference. The Unsorted workaround works for me, but otherwise, this is a very annoying and pretty critical bug - until I discovered the workaround I was totally unable to manage my bookmarks.

You're doing a great job, please fix this soon.
