Details
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; it-IT; rv:1.7.12) Gecko/20050919 Firefox/1.0.7
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; it-IT; rv:1.7.12) Gecko/20050919 Firefox/1.0.7
To configure the Cisco PIX 501 Firewall there is a Java application called PDM
that runs if you point the browser to the https port of the Firewall.
This application works only with java versions up to 1.4.2_07 (for newer
releases of Java like 1.5 you need to upgrade the firewall firmware and software).
The application works with Firefox with no problem, but when you close the java app:
- the bookmark window is empty
- the address field works in reverse order (!), i.e. if I want to type
www.mozilla.org I've to type gro.allizom.www (and it's displayed as www.mozilla.org)
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. point to https://addr.of.your.cisco
2. work with the app
3. close the app
4. try to use Firefox
Actual Results:
Firefox is unusable.
To revert to normal conditions, I've to logout (closing and restarting Firefox
doesn't work).
It seems that Java is not fully unloaded when I close Firefox (there's still the
icon in the system tray).
Of course, using IE 6 everything is ok.

Is this reproducible with 1.5 beta? http://www.mozilla.org/projects/firefox/

I've found a solution.
The problem is that Firefox (1.0.x) remains running in the background (sucking
99% of cpu). When I try to open a new instance of Firefox, there is no warning
about a "Firefox is already running". If I kill it with Task Manager, I can work
normally again.
With 1.5beta, I get a "Firefox is already running", so I can kill it and work again.

No because I get a warning about "Firefox is already running" and I've to kill
the app from the background. When I start again Firefox, it works normally.
