User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.8b4) Gecko/20050910 SeaMonkey/1.0a Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.8b4) Gecko/20050910 SeaMonkey/1.0a Missed alarms should be suppressed or at least suppressable when a calendar is imported. Related bugs: 138223 and 177279. Many people like to see missed alarms, however after a calendar is imported there are many missed alarms that nobody will want to see. Possible solutions: 1. Turn off "Show missed alarms" preference on import; remind user to turn it back on if desired. 2. Ask user whether to import events that have already happened. If yes, then do what is suggested in 1 above. Reproducible: Didn't try Steps to Reproduce: I uninstalled Mozilla 1.8a5 including calendar component. Next, I installed SeaMonkey 1.0a [Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.8b4) Gecko/20050910 SeaMonkey/1.0a], and then Sunbird [Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.8a5) Gecko/20050203 Mozilla Sunbird/0.2]. Then, I imported my old calendar into Sunbird. Actual Results: I received over a hundred missed alarms. I started acknowledging them, but realized it was futile, so I pressed the "Acknowledge All Alarms" button, and the alarms disappeared, but then they all reappeared after about an hour or so. Expected Results: 1. I should be asked whether I want to get hundreds of missed alarms. 2. If I press the "Acknowledge All Alarms" button, then they alarms should not appear again.
The day after I pressed the "Acknowledge All Alarms" button they all reappeared again. When the 141 alarms first appeared immediately after the import, I first startd acknowledging them individually, then realized it would take too long and pressed the "Acknowledge All Alarms" button. All the alarms reappeared after some time. Then, I acknowledged all of them individually, thinking there might be a problem with the "Acknowledge All Alarms" button. My computer was on overnight, and this morning 140 of the 141 alarms appeared again. This time I pressed the "Acknowledge All Alarms" button. We'll see what happens.
My computer was on overnight, and this morning 143 missed alarms appeared. I pressed the "Acknowledge All Alarms" button again. I won't report this anymore, but it appears to be repeating every day.
Note that the entire alarm system has been redone for 0.3/nightly builds. It isn't 100% functional yet (missed alarms are never fired, I think), but further testing in 0.2 won't help very much. :-(
