I have the pref "wrap incoming messages to window width" set, of course; but
incoming plaintext messages lacking line breaks no longer wrap (and therefore
are nearly impossible to read).

This is a recent regression: it works in the 03-03-16 build, fails in the
04-04-09 build.
Marking regression and beta1 since it's a serious regression that makes it very
difficult to use mail (if you get mail from people who don't know how to set up
their own mailers).
Keywords: beta1, regression
Perhaps related problem: when displaying one of these messages, if I'm scrolled
all the way left, every time I move the mouse into the window (i.e. focus the
window -- I use pointer focus) the message scrolls right a little, so I can't
read the beginnings of the lines.

Can you please post the source RFC822 message as an example?

Putting on PDT+ radar for beta1. Must fix by 03/10.

As far as I can tell, you'll see this with any plaintext message that has a line
longer than the screen width. But I attached a sample anyway.
Ok, I see this on Win32 as well...good, this will make it easier to
investigate. I have to run out of the office for a bit but I will hit it hard
when I come back.

Good news. This is a VERY simple fix...8 characters :-)

I will try to get this into the tree ASAP.

This should now be working again :-)

There's some bug in Bugzilla when you close a bug and change another field (ie
Summary)...the change in status doesn't stick.

Rich, I am confused why bug 29680 is a dup. of this bug.

While bug 29680 is about: when using Plain text to compose message in seamonkey,
it does not wrap at 72 characters when a line without break is longer than 72
characters.

Per Akkana, the reporter, this bug is about: when viewing a plain text message
that has a line (without line break) longer than 72 characters, it does not
wrap.

Per Akkana, bug 29680 should not be a dup. of this bug. And I do agree because
using 3/10/2000 builds, bug 29680 is fixed on all 3 platforms. But this bug is
not fixed on all 3 platforms.

Here is what I found: when viewing a plaintext message ( without line break)
that is longer than 72 characters, it wraps using the Win32 (2000-03-10-12-M15)
build.
However, it does not wrap when using both Linux (2000-03-10-13-M15) and Mac
(2000-03-10-13-M15).

Well, I'm too tired to figure out the duplicate issue, but if this is still
broken on non Windows platform, I will deal with it.

Hi Rick,
I think this is a layout/style sheet issue. I will attach an HTML doc which is
the output from libmime. Basically, it boils down to the WRAP attribute on the
<PRE> line. This seemed to stop working on Win32 for a while and then started
working again on Windows, but they are saying it is broken again.

This is not a pretty bug. Not pretty at all. Alas, we are past 3/10, and I see
no sign of a fix in any of the comments :-(.
I'm forced to mark this PDT-
plus for beta2
I sure wish someone had a fix in hand or even a comment about a fix... but with
nothing in sight... this can't stop a beta ship :-( :-(.

Does this bug still exist?

This does not appear to be a bug. I can't see any problem -- it's wrapping just
fine. There is an anchor whose text doesn't wrap, but that's also correct.

This seems to have been fixed -- it's wrapping for me in today's (tip) build.
Putting on beta2 keyword radar since this was "plus for beta2" during beta1
triaging
