User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1; .NET CLR 1.1.4322) Build Identifier: http://download.mozilla.org/?product=firefox-1.0.7&os=win&lang=it-IT Starting from FF1.0.5ITA + Web Developer toolbar (unknown build), I upgraded to FF1.0.7ITA and then I let FF download the required critical updates for the extensions. After restart, FF opened displaying a grey rectangle at the bottom of the page with red text: <broadcaster label="&webdeveloper.edit.css.label;" group="sidebar" id="webdeveloper-edit-css-sidebar" sidebarurl="chrome (then text might proceed off-screen, I cannot tell). Under that line, a red dashed arrow stopping on the & before webdeveloper.edit.css.label, like this: <broadcaster label="&webdeveloper.edit.css.label;" --------------------^ I tried uninstalling and re-installing firefox but the problem remained. Then I uninstalled it again and manually deleted everything into the installation directory. Following that, I reinstalled it to the same, installer-suggested directory. The bug reproduced. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. close FF1.0.5ITA 2. upgrade from FF1.0.5ITA with web developer toolbar to 1.0.7ITA by overwriting the old version with the new, manually-downloaded one. 2. restart firefox (now 1.0.7ITA) 3. allow FF to download updates for extensions (I don't remember what they were apart from the Web Developer Toolbar) 4. restart firefox (bug manifests). 5. From then on, try to uninstall/reinstall Firefox in its installer-suggested directory, even manually deleting content in the directory. Actual Results: FF UI freeze. menu is totally unresponsive except for the "look for updates" button. tabs are invisible (they are created by CTRL+T but not displayed). Toolbar buttons disappeared. Navigation impossible Expected Results: Work as FF1.0.7ITA with upgraded components. theme = default (chrome) Talkback = not available

This is due to a bad extension: WebDeveloper. Uninstall it and the problem will be solved.

(In reply to comment #2) > This is due to a bad extension: WebDeveloper. Uninstall it and the problem will > be solved. can you give a pointer or link on how to uninstall it ? FF crashes and does not allow me to do anything. also, completely deleting the FF folder does solve the problem. subsequent installs still have the same problem. I just tried installing the 1.5 beta (which worked) and saw that - Web Developer extension works correctly under 1.5 beta (I just tried it on this very same page) - the other extension which I couldn't remember before is the SaferFox 2.3.1, which was automatically disabled by FF1.5Beta. I am more inclined to think that it could be a saferfox/webdev interaction.

so update should automatically force it to be disabled, no?
