I don't think we should replace "Templates" with "Stationery". This will create lots of migration problems. For example, we don't want to replace folder name from "Templates" to "Stationery" local or imap. Or create a new folder "Stationery" along with the existing folder.

Jeff - is there an easy way to *not* migrate the Template folder if it is empty? It's my understanding that we did not get much use of Templates, so I would expect a large percentage of users to have empty Template folders.
It may be easy for the local pop3 accounts but not for imap accounts. Seth probably can say more on the pref migration.
I'm just getting caught up on my bugs / bug email. sol, if the folder exists, we should migrate it. (even it is empty). nothing should "disappear" on migration. it sounds like the plan is: for a new account, create a Stationery folder, instead of a Templates folder. for a migrate account, migrate the Templates folder to a normal folder, and create a Stationery folder, and point the prefs to that new folder. is this correct?

Creating less confusion when users are migrating from 4.x to 6.0. Less engineering and QA tasks. Since, we have such a limited resources and tight schedule. -- Jeff Sol Goldfarb wrote: While I prefer the name "Stationery", if option 1 proves to involve significant effort or debate, I'm in favor of option 2. I do not think this is where we should be spending our energy. Sol Jennifer Glick wrote: I just spoke to Sol about this one. The recommendation is for one of the following: 1. The term "Stationery" replaces "Templates". It is located in the "Local Folders" area. American Greetings will supply some defaults. When a user migrates, the "Templates" folder is not brought over if it is empty. If there is stuff in the Templates folder, the folder and contents would be brought over (keep TEmplates name) and associated with the specific account it came from. Benefits: For most 4.x (and previous) users, the Templates folder will be empty. The term Stationery is more common and descriptive. 2. Keep the term "Templates". It is located in the "Local Folders" area. American Greetings will supply some defaults. When a user migrates, the "Templates" folder and contents would be brought over and associated with the specific account it came from. Benefits: Keeps the same consistent wording. I'm open to either suggestion. Thanks, Jen Sol Goldfarb wrote: Not only am I working on the deal - I have the stationery in hand. I've asked American Greetings to optimize the graphics to reduce the size, but have not heard back yet. In the meantime, I can provide the stationery to who ever needs it. Scott Putterman wrote: This seems similar to Unsent Messages and Outbox. With that we chose to keep both. I agree that we should do that here. One question though. Are we shipping default Stationary? If so, what happens to it (or is that just going to be in Local Folders/Stationary)? Scott Jeff Tsai wrote: Seth Spitzer wrote: I don't like the idea of renaming the folder either. 1) what if a folder named Stationery already exists? 2) to rename a folder, for imap, would require authenticating. yuck. I think we need to hash this one out before we take action / check in code. Agreed that we will go with Option 2. Use the term "Templates" instead of "Stationery". Keep the term "Templates". It is located in the "Local Folders" area. American Greetings will supply some defaults. When a user migrates, the "Templates" folder and contents would be brought over and associated with the specific account it came from. Can this bug be used for the OPPOSITE now, to change the places in the product that say "Stationery" to now say "Template"? Or do we need a new bug?
Yes, please.
Verified Invalid. I'll open a new bug to track the term "Template" to be used instead of Stationery.
