User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i586; en-US; rv:1.9a1) Gecko/20051001 SeaMonkey/1.1a Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i586; en-US; rv:1.9a1) Gecko/20051001 SeaMonkey/1.1a I have set a specific start page in the Preferences. When SeaMonkey is launched, the mozilla.org start page appears instead. Clicking the Home icon will then display the correct start page specified in the Preferences. This also occurred with the 9/30/2005 build and earlier. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Sea Monkey is launched 2.http://www.mozilla.org/start/ loads as the Start Page instead of the specified page. 3. Actual Results: Mozilla.org start page loads at launch. Expected Results: The actual Start Page saved in the Preferences should have loaded.

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.9a1) Gecko/20050930 SeaMonkey/1.1a All works fine for me but I'm Windows user. Maybe Linux specific bug.
Since reporting this bug, the issue has occurred intermittently, but still occurs. It does not occur with the Windows version though.
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9a1) Gecko/20051007 SeaMonkey/1.1a Problem also occurs with Windows version of SeaMonkey, build info above.
OS: Linux → All
Version: unspecified → Trunk
Do you use for that profile different builds/versions of Mozilla/Seamonkey/Netscape? If so, it is normal that then the build changes for the first start of the "new" build it loads the Mozilla start page.
Severity: major → normal
If an older build were uninstalled then a new build installed afterwards, I believe the new build ought to honor/recognize the previously-saved Preferences and launch the start page as specified by the user.

(In reply to comment #5) > If an older build were uninstalled then a new build installed afterwards, I > believe the new build ought to honor/recognize the previously-saved Preferences > and launch the start page as specified by the user. It does, but only at 2nd launch. At first launch you get the start page, as there may be some known issues, new tips, or you just should be aware that you are using a new version. If you are using an older and a newer version of the browser using the same profile, you get this override each time you are using the new browser after the old one. You can change the behaviour in about:config 1. load about:config 2. enter 'homepage' (without the quotes) in Filter: line 3. change startup.homepage_override_url to what you need. I didn't test myself, my boolean settings are 'false' so I expect to not see the startpage, but I'm wrong. Setting 'false' means 'no override', so as I don't have a start page specified, I see http://www.mozilla.org/start/ at 1st start without overriding something else.

This is expected behavior when switching versions.
