I'm not sure I understand. Did firefox try to install an XPI (with the install
dialog) even though you have software update disabled? What MIME type are these
XPI files being served as?
Reporter, can you provide answers to the questions in comment #1? 

Can you provide a link to a 'web folder' where this happened to you?
It has been a month without the additional info asked for the reporter to supply responding.
