Basically, the top ten list will be displayed in the drop down list when the
user clicks on the icon inside the addressbar. This feature will make the top
ten list a lot more accessible to the user.

An alternative idea would be to move the top ten list "folder" to the bookmarks
bar folder.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
You mean add another icon to the location bar? No thanks. The bookmark bar isn't
too bad of an idea (if it could be turned off), but weren't we talking about
removing the top 10 list altogether?

Simon, do you remember any of that?
I think it makes a good Dock menu. As for removing it, perhaps you're thinking
of bug 300408 comment 9?
First of all, I want to clarify one thing: I am not asking to add any icons to
the location bar. Normally, this kind of drop down list are displayed when the
user cilcks on the favicon or the default page icon in the location bar

I think the Top Ten List is a great feature. Many people (I learned this from
observing my friends and my parents) access their frequented site using the drop
down menu in IE (which is not nearly as good as the top ten list)

As for the Bookmarks Bar integration, why not simply allow the User to Drag and
Drop the top ten list to the Bookmarks Bar folder?

Personally, I am not too fond of the dock menu idea, simply because Macs are so
single-button oriented (despite the introduction of the Mighty Mouse)
click-hold gets you the dock menu. *shrug* i like it there.
Adding an optional virtual folder/proxy for Top10 to the Bookmarks Bar (perhaps
on by default) might make the Top10 more discoverable, but I'm not sure how much
effort it would take or even if it's possible. It might also cause problems/UI
inconsistency if people delete/remove it from the bm bar and wonder why the
Top10 collection is still there in the manager....

(And Top10 is already sort-of one of the touted features of the "new" bm manager.)
How about the location bar drop down list idea? Although it isn't as
discoverable as the second idea, the drop down list should be a lot easier to
implement.

As for implementing the second idea, how about using Spotlight API to implement
generic smart folders? The old routine can be retained for users who haven't
upgraded to Tiger yet.

There is also the option of adding a Top Ten list toolbar button with a dropdown
list, but I think it's extra UI bloat.

After thinking about this problem, I think creating a Top Ten List toolbar
button which will display the top ten list in a drop down menu seems to be the
easiest way to integrate the list with the bookmarks bar: The user can just drag
the button to the bookmarks bar.

We might even want to add this button to the bookmarks bar by default to
advertise this amazing feature to our users.
It seems that to fix this we'd have to allow "smart" folders to be placed
anywhere in the bookmarks hierarchy. That will make drag & drop fun.
Confirming as a RFE (targeting for FUTURE) since there's still debate on whether this is wanted and it'd be nice to have it of the unconfirmed list. :)
