occationally the status bar disappears. It's display is restored by resetting
the menu: View -> Status Bar
I haven't been able to find the steps to reproduce this, but it has happened
several times.
Reproducible: Couldn't Reproduce

Maybe a corruption of the localstore.rdf file in your profile?
If you rename it, it will generate a new one. You'll have to rearrange your
toolbars etc.

Do you allow JavaScript to hide the status bar? Is Tools > Options > Content >
Advanced > "Hide the status bar" checked?

I have "Hide the status bar" checked.
In 1.0.x I had it checked as well. 1.0.x did not allow an already open window
to have it's status bar hidden. It just allowed new windows to be opened with
the status bar hidden.
I'm hoping I'll find steps to reproduce the effect, now that I am looking for it.

Similar, i.e. the status bar disappears, when viewing (all) headers in wide view mode.
However, the view status bar toggle does not help. Returning to classic resolves it. Looks like some work need to be done for wide view mode.

This bug was reported on Firefox 2.x or older, which is no longer supported and will not be receiving any more updates. I strongly suggest that you update to Firefox 3.6.3 or later, update your plugins (flash, adobe, etc.), and retest in a new profile. If you still see the issue with the updated Firefox, please post here. Otherwise, please close as RESOLVED > WORKSFORME
