Middle click on a tab closes the tab. Left clicking on the close tab button
closes the tab. Middle clicking on the close tab button doesn't close the tab,
but it should.
Why ?

everything else in FF (global and modal) closes with left click.
Because I often attempt it unwittingly, and it takes me four or five clicks to
figure out why it's not working. After all, this is two actions, _both_
associated with closing the tab, it's not like I would mean anything else.
Hmm, but the next thing bug would be:

Middleclick on the closetab button closes the tab, why doesn't it do that for
the sidebar or findbar.

I just tried a bunch of Windows apps, and none close with middleclick on the [X]
Middle clicking elsewhere in the sidebar and findbar isn't associated with
closing anything. Nor is middle clicking in a window titlebar. In those
situations, you're switching an action normally associated with closing for one
that's not. In the close tab case, you're merging two actions both associated
with closing.
Its a button, you left click on it and something happens, not comparable with
middle-clicking on a tab to close it.

I dont think the regular user would expect this behaviour
