When browsing various web sites, images do not display. Similarly, icons and
buttons (Submit, etc) on various web pages are not shown. 

Also when ownloading images, the full image appears "rainbowed", as if the image
is distorted, and is generally unviewable.

Using Internet Explorer the graphics are displayed, so it appears that the
problem lies within the Firefox program.

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Use another browser

Actual Results:  
Images are viewable on other browsers.

Expected Results:  
Show images

I recently published a site, www.mcclure4x4.co.uk, backgrounds to images on this
site appear no problem on IExplorer but not using Firefox.

It happens a lot, unfortunately ...

Examplum gratia:

Visit http://www.falk.de/, provide any address, request display:
   ... Loading ...

In contrast, Epiphany (2.18.1.x) - also using Gecko (1.8) - has no problems at all with these pages.

Postscritum:

As to be expected, the effect is independent upon 
- distribution (gentoo, ubuntu, OpenSuse, ...)
- Desktop (Gnome, Kde, Xfce)

Example: Ubuntu Feisty with Gnome:

$ uname -a :
Linux ... 2.6.20-16 ... #2 SMP ... x86_64 GNU/Linux

$ Xorg -version :
X Window System Version 7.2.0
Release Date: 22 January 2007
X Protocol Version 11, Revision 0, Release 7.2

Sorry, I forgot to specify the important stuff!
I was reporting about 

   Firefox:    Version 2.0.0.3

P.S.:
If you need more examples, please request -
I will happily collect them for you;
unfortunately, it is inevitable to cross over them again :-(

P.P.S.:
The bug should really be marked as "confimed".
The OS restriction  to "XP" urgently needs to be removed.
The severity level "major" is justified, indeed.
