Go to www.abcnews.com, and click on any news link. Use the keyboard arrow key to
scroll down the page. After a few lines have scrolled, the browser dies. It does
not seg fault, but it locks, dead.

roberts@tsasa.lanl.gov, please include the buildID (build date will work too)
with all bugs you report. I was unable to reproduce with 3/9 win32 build under
98 or NT. Was this testing on a current nightly build or M14?
build id 2000030809 (this info is in the summary line for this bug report)

Sorry about that doug, just in the habbit of looking in the description for
that info. Hmm. Are you able to scroll with the scrollbar without locking
up? If you don't scroll at all does the page lock up after a minute or two?
There are several scrolling bugs on linux but none of them sound quite like
this. Maybe something like 30291 where the page is loading while scrolling can
caouse crash behavior. Can you try letting the page load completely before
scrolling and also try scrolling with the mouse and scrollbar rather than
keyboard. I'll assign this to XP Toolkit to put some more eyes on it.

This worksforme using the same build 2000030809 opt comm on redhat 6.0, gnome +
enlightenment window manager (if relevant).
I can't reproduce this on RH 6.1 either. resolving as wfm. If you still see
this, please reopen with sufficient information to allow us to reproduce it.
BTW, it would be better to pick a more descriptive summary when filing bugs.
such as the one I'm changing this to.

Summary: A new way to crash the browser (build id 2000030809) → Browser crashes scrolling ABCNews story using cursor keys.
*MUCH* better summary title ;-}

So, I go home, download the latest nightly build (2000030913), and lo & behold:
I can no longer reproduce the bug either. Therefore, it is either

1) A (linux) problem with build id 2000030809, or
2) A linux problem excersized by running on two completely different Linux
boxes: machine at work has a different graphics card than the one at home; both
machines are running Mandrake 7.0.

We will have to wait until Friday to see if the problem still exists on my
machine at work, because the toilets overflowed in my building this afternoon
and they shut the place down...

(It wasn't me)

--Doug
I can not longer reproduce this bug with the current daily build: 2000031318.

--Doug
So I'll mark this as as verified. Thanks for following up, Doug!
