Can't enter a password when visiting protected Web pages

Details
When I try to visit a protected Web page (http://www.blazingcactus.com/common/
for example, Mozilla (M14) throws up
a dialog asking for a user name and password. I can enter a user name, but when
I try and click on the password,
nothing seems to get entered into the box and the authentication subsequently
fails. I have tried this several times with
the same result.
