User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8b5) Gecko/20051006 Firefox/1.4.1 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8b5) Gecko/20051006 Firefox/1.4.1 address bar where you type the web address you want to go to. Clicking the drop down list arrow shows previously visited sites with the web address on the left and the site name on the right. EX. http//:www.yahoo.com Yahoo.com clicking Yahoo.com on the right does not take me to yahoo.com If there is a link on the webpage underneath where the dropdown list is it adds that address to the address list dropdown and takes me to that site. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1.click dropdown address list 2.click near right edge of dropdown list 3.sometimes adds link on current webpage to dropdown list and redirects you to that site. Actual Results: sporatic errors, usually navigates properly sometimes doesn't. Expected Results: gone to site in dropdown list
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8b5) Gecko/20051009 Firefox/1.4.1 ID:2005100902 Works for me.
Response received "Works for me", sounds like a Microsoft answer just because wINDOWS DOESN'T CRASH EVERY TIME.
this bug was not resolved. that was just a note from a tester indicating that the tester has not been able to reproduce the problem.
I see an issue very similar to this quite often - basically when I use the drop down and scroll down to an address, when I select the address by clicking on it, instead of going to the selected address, the browser remains on the same page. I.e. it's not going to the selected page but is instead doing some other action.
This should be in Location Bar and Autocomplete
Please confirm this, this bug is driving me BATTY. But I don't think it's only when you click the right hand side of the list - it happens sometimes, no matter where you click. My normal browsing behaviour is to have one hand on the mouse and one on the keyboard. With my hand I type the beginning of a url, and click the correct one from the autocorrect list. I think about 50% of the time, it just fails to autocomplete, and does a automatch on the partial url I typed. For example, I type 'p' and click 'www.penny-arcade.com' when it appears in the list, and I get sent to pflag.org. It is definitely intermittent - I have tried clicking the same place multiple times and sometimes it works, sometimes not. It just may be possible that it is caused by enabling Cleartype in windows - I have had this problem a lot more since I moved to LCD monitors and enabled cleartype.
WFM with Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8) Gecko/20051112 Firefox/1.5 as well
URL: any
Component: Toolbars → Location Bar and Autocomplete
QA Contact: toolbars → location.bar
Please change the summary to use the correct term 'location bar', and reflect the fact that at least two users report that this happens clicking ANYWHERE on the drop-down list, not just on the right hand side.
I'm having the same as Bennett Foddy - problem happens on the whole location bar. Very (!) annoying. Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.0.2) Gecko/20060308 Firefox/1.5.0.2 - Build ID: 2006030804
I've completed the steps listed and it looks like theres not a problem, as for sometimes adds link on current webpage to dropdown list and redirects you to that site. i don't know know about that because that doesn't happen.
Can anyone reproduce this with a recent 2.x, 3.x, or trunk build? See also bug 328416.
