Thunderbird's default theme uses a stop button which is not in line with the
stop button of Firefox's default theme stop button. Firefox uses a stop sign

Different products, different iconsets.
I don't think this is a bug at all, aside from further comments could you please
mark this INVALID.

Maybe it's Mac specific, but here, the two iconsets look extremely similar.
Except the stop button. (Compare the two screenshots I attached.)
I'm not interested in a beautification debate concerning themes, I only think
that since these two products are similar and are marketed together, they also
should have consistent looks. And I think that the two stop buttons, which are
quite well visible because of their red color, are kind of a thorn in the UI
streamlining of these two applications.

My apologies. I didn't see this bug was Mac specific.

Still a bug in its own right? Firefox 3's theme has changed drastically since, though I'm not sure if Thunderbird 3 will have an icon refresh.

This is very likely invalid at this point due to the firelight theme of FF 3.5.

Yeah, we really can't make our stop button look like Firefox's current one unless we completely redo the theme to look like Safari, err, Firefox.
