User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.7.12) Gecko/20050915 Firefox/1.0.7 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.7.12) Gecko/20050915 Firefox/1.0.7 I typically leave Firefox open with multiple tabs. Every day Firefox becomes very sluggish and I have to restart the browser due to very sluggish behavior of the browser. CPU usage is noted at 65%+ when this is noticed. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Open browser with multiple tabs 2.After approximately 24 hours the CPU usage is noticed at 65%+ and browser sluggish to unresponsive. 3. Actual Results: Firefox almost unusable and has to be restarted. Expected Results: Firefox should have remained responsive. NOTE: I do have the Forecastfox module running and do have bookmarkds to some live bookmarks. Could either of these be the culprit???
I don't have Forecastfox or the live bookmarks you mentioned, HOWEVER I still get this problem as well. CPU usage for Firefox is 30-40% when idle for me. I have a Mac Mini 1.66GHz Dual core intel, with 1Gb of RAM. Note also that Safari does this for me as well, yet no other applications do this. Is this just a web browser thing!? Maybe a problem with OS X?
I'm getting the same problem as well, and I've taken all steps I can think of to rule out extensions or anything third party on my computer by: running in safe mode doing a fresh install of Firefox (with a new profile and no extensions) running firefox on a brand new install of OS X I'm running on a Macbook 2Ghz Core Duo with 2GB of RAM, and Mac OS X 10.5.3. However, I'm able to reproduce on 10.5.2 as well.
