User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.8b5) Gecko/20051006 Firefox/1.4.1 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.8b5) Gecko/20051006 Firefox/1.4.1 I am trying to install the Flashgot extension but everytime I try it brings up the message "Software Installation is currently disabled. Click Edit options...to enable it and try again". I have the "Warn me when web sites try to install extension or themes" checked and clicked on the "Exceptions" button and added ftp.mozilla.org, addons.mozilla.org, and even flashgot.net but nothing works. I am VERY frustrated that the application does not automatically fill in the address it needs to have permission to get to OR that there is no way to turn off the installation blocker. Even if I remove the check on the "Warn me ..." it STILL does not work. I use to be able to easily add extensions now it does not work and nothing I try will get it to work. YES, I tried another extension "FasterFox" and it will not load either. The "security" feature must be beyond my puny intellect. Please tewll me what I am doing wrong. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. I am blocked from adding extensions 2. 3. Actual Results: Normal behavior Expected Results: I want to be able to add extensions. I hope that this is a simple matter to fix.

Set the xpintall.enabled pref yourself using about:config, or wait for bug 310737 to be fixed. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 310737 ***

Steps: 1) Type "about:config" in the location bar, press enter. 2) In the "filter" text box, type in "xpinstall.enabled" 3) Right click the "xpinstall.enabled" pref and select "reset".
