User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9a1) Gecko/20051016 Firefox/1.6a1 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9a1) Gecko/20051016 Firefox/1.6a1 You press ctlr+alt+g and it would focus search box with google engine. ctrl+alt+a would focus searchbox and select altavista if user has it in search engines. That would make life easier alot. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Can't be reproduced 2. 3. Actual Results: - Expected Results: - -
What about ctrl+symbol which would quick select engine in the list.
There are like 1600 search engines available at https://addons.mozilla.org/search-engines.php . I don't think I have that many keys. Workaround: in the search box, you can press F4 to bring up the menu of search engines, then press the first letter of one to select it immediately. Marking this WONTFIX.

(In reply to comment #3) > Workaround: in the search box, you can press F4 to bring up the menu of search > engines, then press the first letter of one to select it immediately. This workaround fails in many ways... - the most obvious: what if multiple search engines have the same first letter (e.g. Wikipedia EN and Wikipedia IT, etc) - in the italian localization, pressing the g key (Google should be selected) opens the search engine configuration dialog ("_G_estione motori di ricerca"). I'd dare to ask to reconsider the WONTFIX. (thanks to Kevin for pointing me to this)
