We have a web-based document management system. It will link to files on our
Samba server by using the format file://server/dir/file.doc. However, Mozilla
won't open files with this type of URL. When I paste the same link into IE6 it
will load the document into Word (as I expect).
This is for Mozilla 1.7.12 on Windows.

err...this is invalid. See
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Links_to_local_pages_don%27t_work how to "work around"
(no working around is not a good thing).

OK, I was able to load the files locally by using the suggestions at the above
URL. I just had to modify the URL on our document management system to use the
right number of slashes.
