Message box asking to "Open with" or "Save to Disk": sometimes neither OK nor Cancel enabled

Even after waiting for quite some time buttons are not enabled. Have to close message box using X button and start download again. I never noticed this to happen twice in a row for the same file. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1. Download a file by clicking on hyperlink for download 2. Message box appears asking to Open with or to Save to Disk Actual Results: OK and Cancel button are both disabled and are not enabled after long period of time (a minute). Expected Results: OK and Cancel buttons are enabled when message box appears. Workaround is to close message box with X button and start download again. Usually works the second time around. Most of the time error does not occur, but when it happens, it is quite annoying.
See Bug 284579. The OK button should get the normal color again when you click on it.
For me, sometimes 'Cancel' button is enabled, but 'OK' is disabled, so file downloading is not possible. Env: WinXPSP2, Firefox-220.127.116.11.
This bug was reported on Firefox 2.x or older, which is no longer supported and will not be receiving any more updates. I strongly suggest that you update to Firefox 3.6.3 or later, update your plugins (flash, adobe, etc.), and retest in a new profile. If you still see the issue with the updated Firefox, please post here. No reply, INCOMPLETE. Please retest with Firefox 3.6.x or later and a new profile (http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Managing+profiles). If you continue to see this issue with the newest firefox and a new profile, then please comment on this bug.

Always updated to the latest versions throughout the past years and cannot recall having this issue coming up. Nevertheless, waiting for years before addressing this makes me wonder what the purpose is of reporting bugs if they just get stale and won't get fixed. Something made it work in newer versions...
