Need the following created and pointed to current default provider. Am I directly pointing these domains at the provider hosting the start pages? And if so, does the provider know they're hosting those domains and do they have virtual hosts for them properly configured already? Or are we hosting these domains ourselves and issuing redirects somewhere? If the latter, how much traffic do we expect them to be getting?

As I understand it, we simply need CNAMEs set up for the provided domains that map the same domain as start.mozilla.org.

http://lxr.mozilla.org/l10n-mozilla1.8/source/ is the list of locales being maintained in CVS, and these are the easier codes to use for the sake of build mojo: Anything not on this list can stay, if that's easier. Rafael, please let me know where you based the other list from since we don't actually have localizations for some of those. If you could also sign off on this list that'd be great, since we need this handled ASAP for l10n people. ar.start.mozilla.com bg.start.mozilla.com ca.start.mozilla.com cs.start.mozilla.com da.start.mozilla.com de.start.mozilla.com el.start.mozilla.com en-GB.start.mozilla.com es-AR.start.mozilla.com es-ES.start.mozilla.com eu.start.mozilla.com fi.start.mozilla.com fr.start.mozilla.com ga-IE.start.mozilla.com gu-IN.start.mozilla.com he.start.mozilla.com hu.start.mozilla.com hy-AM.start.mozilla.com it.start.mozilla.com ja.start.mozilla.com ja-JP-mac.start.mozilla.com ko.start.mozilla.com mk.start.mozilla.com mn.start.mozilla.com nb-NO.start.mozilla.com nl.start.mozilla.com nn-NO.start.mozilla.com pa-IN.start.mozilla.com pl.start.mozilla.com pt-BR.start.mozilla.com ro.start.mozilla.com ru.start.mozilla.com sk.start.mozilla.com sl.start.mozilla.com sq.start.mozilla.com sv-SE.start.mozilla.com tr.start.mozilla.com zh-CN.start.mozilla.com zh-TW.start.mozilla.com
I based my list off of this: http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/all.html which may not be complete, but we need lang-locale. You don't have en-US on your list which we need to differentiate from en-GB. We should be using lang-locale.
I just spoke with chase. I guess we fix this on the server side.
(In reply to comment #7) > I just spoke with chase. I guess we fix this on the server side. Fix which? Do you want domain names added for the additional ones mconnor posted that aren't in the original list you gave me? Or is this something in the build system?
http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/all-beta.html is a list that corresponds to the way locales are named in Fx 1.5, as is the list mconnor gave in comment 5. http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/all.html is the list for Fx 1.0 localization naming.

So: ar.start.mozilla.com bg.start.mozilla.com ca.start.mozilla.com cs.start.mozilla.com ... I didn't realize this was changed.
(In reply to comment #10) > We should be using mconnor's list. OK, so you want domains added using that list then, right? And I can nuke any from the original list that aren't in the new one, or just combine them?
I would nuke that original list.
except en-US, of course ;) thanks again!
I guess these pages should point to the Firefox Start pages (www.google.de/firefox/) instead of the regular Google pages (www.google.de).
Ignore that, the urls still contain /firefox.
any update here?
Verified via for l in [a-z]*; do ping -n 1 $l.start.mozilla.com;done in our l10n dir. Checked for nl and de via the browser, and language selection works as used to. Thanks
