User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/312.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Safari/312 Build Identifier: Thunderbird 1.0.7 When message view is set to "Original HTML" or "Plain Text", messages can be printed with no problems. But "Simple HTML" creates font issues that have the message text printing so small as to create legibility problems. Changes to font in Preferences or enlarging the text size on-screen have no effect. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. In the View menu, set "Message Body As" to "Simple HTML". 2. Select a message that was created with HTML fonts/colors/formatting. 3. Print the message. Actual Results: Message prints in extremely small type. Expected Results: Print in the font size specified in Preferences or matching what was displayed on-screen.

I'm unable to reproduce this with 1.5rc2 or 1.6a1-0107, under Windows 2000. Does the message(s) you see this with have the same issue as described at bug 286026? Do you see the same issue in the Print Preview window, or only for hardcopy? If you have a sample message you could supply that exhibits the problem, please provide it -- save it as a .EML file and attach to this bug using the "Create New Attachment" linke above.
Comment on attachment 209581 [details] Sample file No, it is not the same issue as bug 286026. Yes, it shows up in Print Preview.

That message has been encrypted, presumably to your key, so I can't open it. Do you have any examples of an unencrypted message that exhibits the printing problem?

OK; Kris sent me an unencrypted message, and I've been able to reproduce the problem. The message has an odd sig: <pre class="moz-signature" cols="72">-- [blah, blah: name, position address, phone, quote, followed by:] -- [legal disclaimer that's included as a very long single line] </pre> When you view this message as Original HTML, the legal disclaimer line is wrapped to the 72-column limit as specified in the <pre> -- this wrapping is apparently implemented by the style rule pre[cols] { white-space:-moz-pre-wrap; } which is supplied in quirk.css (as 'cols' is nonstandard). But when you view this message as Simple HTML, the legal disclaimer line is not wrapped, and the width of the message grows to the full width of that line. Then when you go to print it, the font is adjusted to fit into the print page. So, yes, this *is* the same as bug 286026. As noted at the dupe, there is a simple workaround: change the print scaling from "Shrink to Fit" to "100%" or something similar -- this can be changed in the Page Setup dialog or at the top of the Print Preview window. If you think that the long line should still be scaled under Simple HTML, please open a separate bug for that. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 286026 ***

(In reply to comment #7) > If you think that the long line should still be scaled under Simple HTML, > please open a separate bug for that. I meant "...still be wrapped..." of course.
