When you start Firefox and then open the Bookmarks Manager and then close 
Firefox, but leave the Bookmarks Manager open, you cannot launch Firefox 
again, evan if you close the Bookmarks Manager.
Workaround: End the firefox.exe ptocess using the Windows Task Manager.
Solution: 
1. The Firefox browser and the Bookmarks Manager should have different 
process names. 
2. The Bookmark Manager should be a completely separate process. Moreover, it should be able to terminate itself when the Bookmark Manager is closed. Currently. The Bokmark Manager, firefox.exe process, never terminates itself.
Once you launch it, you can no longer use the Firefox browser, even if you close   the Bookmark Manager.


Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start Firefox
2. Launch the Firefox Bookmarks Manager
3. Close both the Firefox Bookmarks Manager and Firefox browser Windows
4. Try to launch Firefox again.

Actual Results:  
Firefox browser fails to start.

Expected Results:  
Firefox browser starts normally

Workaround: End the firefox.exe ptocess using the Windows Task Manager.
Solution: The Firefox broser and the Bookmarks Manager should have different 
process names.
This bug is very frustrating for the users that do not know the described work-around.

Have you tried safe mode? Most of the time problems like these are caused by bad extensions.
