314145 - Receiving an update notification but update fail (from 1.5 branch 20051025-03 to 20051025-10)

This morning 28/10/2005 (Belgium GMT+2 time), i got an update notification for firefox ...
The patch is +/- 250 ko ... it install correctly, ask to restart.
The installer restart, and at the middle of the progress bar, the installer disappairs (and no more process in task manager).
I launch firefox --> still 20051025
Manually i "check update"
--> same behaviour ...

I've check bugzilla and last hot bugs for this, but it seems yet reported

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Check for update
2.Do the install and restart


Actual Results:  
3.Install fails after restart at the middle of the progress bar and firefox don't start

Expected Results:  
3.Installer should go after restart to the end of the progress bar and firefox should launch automatically

One more thing: the channel update in about:config (app.update.channel) is set to nightly

The problem seems occurs when updating 2005102503 with 2005102510

I think you are probably seeing bug 313764, which meant the update was applying successfully but not restarting Firefox afterwards. Updating through the sequence 2005102503, -10, -14, -19 worked fine for me, but manual restarts were needed for the first two updates. 

You can use the Nightly Tester Tools extension to display the BuildID on the titlebar for easy reference:

I suggest you install it and check that each update is advancing the BuildID.

For partial updates, it's not unusual for the updater to disappear before updating the progress bar to 100%, and doesn't indicate the update failed.

ah .... yes ... 4 builds in the same day ... yes it is true, it was an RC of the RC1 ...
Thanks for Nightly Tester Tools ... it is helpful ... and yes, the number is incremented to 2005102514 ...
