User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8b5) Gecko/20051006 Firefox/1.4.1
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8b5) Gecko/20051006 Firefox/1.4.1

CSS formatting is carrying over from a self closed <a /> tag into <p> Paragraph text. Please see attached file for an example.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Open attached XHTML 1.1 file.
2.Mouse over paragraph text and notice the CSS style applied to the A attribute carries over
3.

Actual Results:
First paragraph uses a self closing anchor. This is allowed in XHTML but Firefox does not cloe out the tag.

Expected Results:
The first paragraph should not be effected by the A reference in the CSS formatting.
This is invalid, see bug 162653, comment 2

Attachment #201146 - Attachment mime type: text/html → application/xhtml+xml
Updated the mime type of your testcase and it works as expected
OK, I see the error in my ways. So this is heavily related to XHTML 1.1 needing to be xml data not text data output from the webserver? Sorry for the incorrect report.
