Change the preference browser.fixup.alternate.suffix to accept a list of multiple top level domains to be tried if the domain name in a URL is not found.  Try each one without the prefix from browser.fixup.alternate.prefix (if any) before trying it with the prefix.  Stop when a working domain name is found.
