I thought I had picked the wrong set up file and so I checked and I hadn't made a mistake. Installation otherwise fine. I had already installed this on another PC (Win2K SP4) and didn't spot the message and so I do not know where or not this is specific to Win XP SP2. Hope I've followed all the bug reporting rules - apologies if I've made a mistake - keep up the good work. David Ratcliffe Reproducible: Didn't try Steps to Reproduce: 1.Uninstall Firefox 1.5 beta 2 2.Install Firefox 1.5rc1 3. Actual Results: As detailed in the "details" section above. Expected Results: I expected "Installing Mozilla Firefox 1.5 Release Candidate 1" to be displayed and not Firefox 1.5 beta 2. It will matter for the inexperienced user who thinks they have made a mistake, otherwise not critical.
Hi All , i have similar problem in that when i try to install Firefox 1.5RC1 the system installs but top line reports it has installed Firefox 1.5, I was expecting it to say that it was RC1,All my extensions work & no visible errors.
(In reply to comment #1) > Hi All , i have similar problem in that when i try to install Firefox 1.5RC1 > the system installs but top line reports it has installed Firefox 1.5, I was > expecting it to say that it was RC1,All my extensions work & no visible errors. > Apologies, I'm not sure how this system works, I'm learning... As I understand things (click on the target milestone hyperlink above), when a release candidate proves to be satisfactory, it becomes the final candidate. So this would mean that the banner would have to be simply Firefox 1.5 as described in your comment, i.e. without "RC1" appended. From my limited experience, that's what happened with OpenOffice 2RC3 - RC3 is the final official release. HOWEVER your comment is helpful because it would seem that my experience in which the "Beta 2" was displayed seems to be rather rare and to me somewhat inexplicable!
From the original reporter Now that Firefox 1.5rc2 is available (and this report was for 1.5rc1's installer), is there any reason why the status of this bug report cannot be changed to WONTFIX or whatever is appropriate? If somebody wants to educate me on the "correct" procedure and who is allowed to do what, please do! Many thanks - David
Further confirmation , after further research i have found that the " word Release candidate " in the contest of software implies that , this is final version unless any faults are found and that is why all tags read 1.5 , therefore i would be content if the status was changed to RESOLVED
