gmail's 'new window' used to open the current message in a new window in firefox 1.0.4 but does nothing in firefox 1.5.  Similarly, clicking on a url that gmail highlighted in an email no longer opens a new window or tab.  Disabling the popup blocker made no difference.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. disable the popup blocker
2. login to gmail and view a message
3. click the 'new window' button

Actual Results:  
nothing happens

Expected Results:  
should see a new window with the message

I used to use the new window as a minibrowser with no menubar and hidden tabs.

I am using 1.5rc1 under Mac OS X 10.3.9 and have a somewhat different problem with GMail windows.  My tabs preference for "Force links that open new windows to open in: a new tab".  However in GMail when I click on the icon to open the message in a window or shift click on compose, a new window does open instead of opening in a tab as it did previously.

riesman, thanks for the update. the appropriate resolution value is WORKSFORME.  FIXED is appropriate when a bug has a patch checked in or you know the bug whose patch fixed the problem.
