User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8) Gecko/20051025 Firefox/1.5 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8) Gecko/20051025 Firefox/1.5 installed Firefox 1.5 RC1. Received message that certain extensions will not work, but that updates are available for said extensions. Tried to update using the extensions panel. Failed.Receive the following message:Failed. Message says "Firefox could not install file at <location name> because: Not a valid install package." Tried to download using free download manager and Flashgot extension. Failed. FDM says file does not exist on server. Manually downloaded using Firefox's own download manager. Then to install, I goto Firefox, File, Open File, browse to find .XPI file. Failed. Message says "Firefox could not install file at <location name> because: Not a valid install package." Reproducible: Always Expected Results: It should have installed my Mouse Gestures! grrr if you ask for details, why do you then ask further down to describe steps to produce, actual results, ? I dont like repeating myself :)

This is WFM using Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8) Gecko/20051103 Firefox/1.5 ID:2005110304 as well as n Win32. Perhaps this is a problem with one of the AMO mirrors and not the EM. Please try installing an extension from the following site in order to check this. http://www.extensionsmirror.nl/
The site i tried installing the extensions from is the main firefox/thundermail website. tried installing from www.extensionsmirror.nl and it worked fine. Maybe it a problem with the main firefox website? However, not all the latest extensions listed on the main firefox website are mirrored at extensionsmirror.nl Thanks for the help Robert

When you say firefox/thundermail website do you you mean https://addons.mozilla.org/ ?
Apologies for not listing the exact site: https://addons.mozilla.org/?application=firefox Keeps giving invalid installation package errors.

Not sure what is going on with https://addons.mozilla.org/ but it appears that it is specific to that site which has a bugzilla product / component.

Looks like there is a mirror problem indeed. For example, this does not work for me: http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/extensions/stumbleupon/stumbleupon-2.1-fx+fl+mz+ns.xpi I get 404, and it seems so do a lot of other people. If someone gets a non-404 on this file, then maybe it is just one of the mirrors. Otherwise it could be an issue with releases.mozilla.org itself.

On further consideration, I don't think this is a mirror problem. The file in question had already propagated to all the mirrors before the switch to releases.mozilla.org was made. So most likely the problem is that releases.mozilla.org is not properly linking to the mirrors.
