315515 - Update server connection hangs and never times out

Thunderbird 1.5 beta 2 on Windows XP SP2 offers to update to RC 1, but two problems occur.

1. the connection to the update server never succeeds, and
2. the connection attempt never times out.

If the attempt to connect to the update server never succeeds for some reason, it ought to time out after some reasonable time and so inform the user. TB never does this; the connection attempt continues for hours, at least, and probably indefinitely.

Nope, none. This is 100% outside of my control anyways. It will be in better hands with the MoCo RelEng folks.
