User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8b5) Gecko/20051006 Firefox/1.4.1 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8b5) Gecko/20051006 Firefox/1.4.1 I have searched for this for quite a while and there is no solution. When i use any mouse and middleclick on any like or bookmark the window opens in a new tab, and i can close that tab by using the middlemouse button. Now since i got a mx700 mouse it will not work any more. This is a issue with all logitec MX mouse owners. I made shure that the middlemouse click option was enabled too in firefox. Also i cannot click on it to navigate down a page but the scroll its self works. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Press the middle mouse click button 2. 3. Actual Results: The window dosnt open in a new tab, and the tabs dont close Expected Results: It should have opened in a new tab, and it should close the tab by clicking on it There is no fix to this, and i looked for a plug-in, and there arnt any to fix this annoying problem.
What drivers are you using for it?

> since i got a mx700 mouse it will not work any more.< Just to clear is this the Old MX700 cordless that uses MouseWare 9.79.1 or is it the newer LX700 that uses the SetPoint? even though the LX700 is part of keyboard/mouse combo set. I don't think Logitech sells the MX700 anymore. Since you did not say it pastes the clipboard into page or tab or such I would have to say it is due to perhaps not using the right mouse driver for the mouse, middle click not set right in driver, etc as this so far does not appear to be Firefox related. If you were to not use any mouse software at all, the Windows XP drivers should handle the mouse quite well I would think as it does for me with my MX500, MX510. If it did paste the clipbard into tabs instead of closing them, it would be due to having the middlemouse.contentLoadURL set as true when it should be false.
It is the MX700 to be clear, its not the one that comes with the keyboard and mouse set. The drivers im using are mouseware 9.79. So yes this is the old MX700. I can middle click in other programs but it just dosnt do anything in firefox. I can try anything and nothing will happen at all.
I'm also seeing this issue with my new RX1000 on Firefox 2.0b1. Also, it seems to depend on how the middle mouse button is assigned in the SetPoint software. For example, when I middle-click on a link, with some settings it will trigger a click, focusing the link, so I can just click again to open it in a new tab; other settings will, for instance, make a zoom icon pop up and absorb the click, so nothing at all actually happens in Firefox. I've uninstalled SetPoint for the time being, since the default Windows drivers work pretty well--actually, the Search button on my RX1000 somehow triggers Back in Firefox, but that's probably a different issue. I'd be happy to reinstall it for testing though.
I've just found out that setting the middle mouse button's function to "Generic Button" (in the additional options under "Other") in fact makes the button work properly. I assume this one just reverts it to standard behavior, so they should at least make it less obscure. Anyway, I think Firefox should still support the default setting SetPoint introduces, as Opera seems to recognize it, for one.
Reporter, do you still see this problem with the latest Firefox 2 and the latest drivers for your mouse? If not, can you please close this bug as WORKSFORME. Thanks!

Man this is ancient, heck i dont even remember the last time i used Firefox... Anyways no idea if it works, i am using OS X on my MacBook pro, with a VX revolution on the go and a G5 mouse at home. Also the fact i had dumped firefox years ago because it was faster then IE, but still very slow compared to others i have. I will set it as WORKSFORME, but i cannot test it any more...
