Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686 (x86_64); en-US; rv:1.8) Gecko/20051107 Firefox/1.5
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686 (x86_64); en-US; rv:1.8) Gecko/20051107 Firefox/1.5

Happens when either choose "Save Link As" or when selecting Save in the Save or Open dialogue.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Close and start a new session of Firefix 1.5rc2.
2. Point mouse cursor on any hyperlink on a web page.
3. Right click and select "Save As"

Actual Results:
The "Save As" dialogue appears, but Firefox is hung and CPU pegs at 100% for about 2 minutes.

Expected Results:
Firefox should not hang or get into a CPU loop.

Using Mandriva 2006 x86_64 with latest updates.
Using Firefox 1.5rc2 x86-32 binaries (NOT using Mandriva packaged Firefox).
Using Download Statusbar 0.9.3.1 extension.
This looks like a dup of bug 305970.

Do you also see this the first time you start a Drag & Drop operation?
I hadn't tried drag-n-drop before, but yes it happens there too (to customize the toolbars). So it looks like my bug report is a dup of bug 305970. Sorry that my searching didn't find it. Although I'm accustomed to building linux kernels and a large variety of applications (I'm an old Unix geek and C programmer), I've never bothered building mozilla/firefox/thunderbird from scratch, but if there's anything I can do to help track down the problem, please don't hesitate to ask.
Marking duplicate per reporter's comments.

Currently no-one seems to have a clear idea what could have caused this effect, so if you have any clues, feel free to add them to bug 305970.
