I have the Junk Mail control in 'Tools' turned off (i.e. not checked); yet quite a lot of my mail is marked as Junk in the main mail window.

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Ensure that Junk Mail control in 'Tools' is turned off (not checked).
2. Receive mail, including mail from charities and campaigning groups.
3. Download it to SeaMonkey Mail.
4. Examine main Mail window.

Actual Results:  
Much of the 'official' mail is marked with the Junk symbol.

Expected Results:  
It should be unmarked.

Michael,

Does this happen:

a) If you never ever have enabled Junk Mail Controls before(you once created a fresh profile, made sure Junk mail Controls was off from the beginning and then never had it on)?

b) If you once had it turned on and then suddenly turned it off?

If b), there are some dupe candidates: bug 202812 and bug 213758 (IMAP)

Stefan: ages ago I had the Junk Mail control on for a while — same identity, but an ancient version of Mozilla. But the interesting thing is that if I now look at my mail (the same mail in the same inbox as under SeaMonkey) with Mozilla 1.7.13, nothing is marked as junk.

Stefan, my apologies (re #2): I must have not looked at the whole of my inbox. In fact, the relevant pieces of mail ARE marked as junk in Mozilla, too. And I should, of course, have said Mozilla 1.7.12, not 1.7.13. This is not my day!
