Occasionally unable to enter text in search field of <www.versiontracker.com>
using Firefox 1.5.
1. Click into "Search" filed at top left of page.
2. The field doesn't accept any typed data.
3. Rebooting OS 10.4.3 eliminates the problem, but it does reappear after time.
Reproducible: Sometimes
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Mouse into "Search" filed at top left of page.
2. The field doesn't accept any typed data.
3. Rebooting OS 10.4.3 eliminates the problem, but it does reappear after time.
Actual Results:
Field won't accept any keyboard input.
Expected Results:
Field should accept any keyboard input.

Is the problem only in that specific search field or also elsewhere (URL bar, other web pages with forms)?
What keyboard layout are you using?

Can't answer your specific-field question, but will let you know when it reoccurs.
I've seen this happen on the <http://www.hallmark.com> site, too.

Actually, I was asking about the keyboard *layout*, displayed in the input menu at the top right of the screen, if "Syestem Preferences > International > Input Menu > Show input menu in menu bar" is selected (examples of layouts are: U.S., Italian, Arabic, etc.).
I asked because there is a known problem with certain keyboard layouts stopping to work after visiting a page with Java (bug 313807). But from your answer, I understand that this is probably an unrelated problem.

Aha! As you suspected, it's set as U.S.

This is a mass search for bugs that are in the Firefox General component, are UNCO, and have not been changed for 1000 days and have an unspecified version.
Reporter, can you please update to Firefox 3.6.10, create a fresh profile, http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/managing+profiles, and test again. If you still see the bug, please update this bug. If the issue is gone, please set the resolution to RESOLVED > WORKSFORME.

No reply from reporter, INCOMPLETE. Please retest with Firefox 3.6.12 or later and a new profile (http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Managing+profiles). If you continue to see this issue with the newest firefox and a new profile, then please comment on this bug.
