"Next" and "Previous" buttons in message view toolbar doesn't work

After customizing the message view toolbar to show Previous and Next buttons. They don't work but the menu option Go->Next->Message or the shortcut key (F) do work.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Open a message
2.Customize message window the toolbar to show next and previous buttons
3.try to use them
Actual Results:
The actual message doesn't change.
Expected Results:
Go to the next or previous message.

This would be bug 235666 as the reporter mentions "F" key which is for Next (read/unread) message.
