want a function (optionally enabled per account) to log incoming and outgoing mails, i.e. from whom to whom etc., if a mail is marked as answered or forwarded, you can see to whom and when.

Sounds more like an extension that functionality that is going to land into the tb code base.

Not yet a duplicate but pointing to the same direction. What I imagine is something like a treeview of subject,sender,receiver,senddate of messages belonging (as "parent" or "child", regarding forwarding and answering) to the selected message.

Maybe better solved as an extension, I don't know.
