It doesnot say that the page cannot be displayed or any other connection problems. A grey coloured screen opens. Reproducible: Always
Works for me in 1.0.7 and 1.5rc3 on winxp. What extensions do you have installed? Does it still happen when starting in safemode? What preferences have you changed? You can find the changed preferences by loading about:config then looking for the entries in bold.
